Paulson Thesis: Proprioception- an obstacle for motor control in conditions with a visuoproprioceptive conflict (.pdf file, 10MB) 2002 MD, University of Copenhagen Scientific interestsThe role of proprioception in trajectory control is incompletely understood. One of the reasons for this paucity of knowledge is the difficulty to test motor control in humans in the absence of proprioception. In collaboration with Chris Miall 's groups at the University of Oxford and Birmingham, I have developed a safe and painless method for acute proprioceptive deafferentation in healthy people using repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation over the hand-contralateral somatosensory cortex. I am using this method as well as psychophysical measurements in a proprioceptively deafferented patient to find out whether hand proprioception influences the distribution of attention in the visual space.PublicationsClick here for PubMed publication list.Funding
