NRU was represented at the annual meeting of the Danish Society of Psychiatry by professors Vibe G. Frøkjær and Martin B. Jørgensen and PhD-student Kristian R. Jensen, together with their master students Malene Ravn-Eriksson and Astrid Tougaard Mikkelsen.
Malene gave an oral presentation on her work "The Role of Sex Hormone Levels and Serotonin Brain Signalling in Men with Major Depressive Disorder" in the prestigious Pontoppidan competition among senior psychiatrists. She won third prize and was praised for pedagogically communicating the complex subject with scientific humility.
Astrid won first prize in the poster competition on her work "The Role of the Serotonin Four Receptor in Neuroticism in Healthy Individuals and Patients with Depression – a Positron Emission Tomography Study". She was praised for scientific rigour and enthusiastically embracing a negative finding.
Their work is based on data from the Cimbi-database and the NeuroPharm study of patients with depression.
