Congratulations to Cheng Teng Ip who has received an industrial PhD grant from the Innovation Fund Denmark for her project 'EEG and ERP biomarkers for prediction of antidepressant treatment response', which will be carried out together with H. Lundbeck A/S. The company covers 50% of Cheng's salary and she will be employed at the company for three years. The project is tightly connected to the NRU research in NeuroPharm, especially WP1, and Gitte Moos Knudsen will be project supervisor together with Søren Rahn Christensen who is Clinical Pharmacology Scientist at H. Lundbeck A/S.

Project abstract:
The aim of the present project is to establish the relationship between outcome after antidepressive drug interventions and electrophysiological (EEG/ERP) features in humans. First, we will exploit already acquired data from H. Lundbeck A/S in healthy males to establish which features are particularly sensitive to drug intervention. Next, we will investigate in a cohort of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) if the same features can predict treatment outcome and if emotional processing ERP can be used as a biomarker to predict the treatment response. Ideally, the findings in this study can provide new insights to this domain and thus advance future “personalized” and “accurate” treatment strategies for MDD.
